Challenge
An escalator is a special type of conveyor system that connects two platforms separated by a given height. Its steps are linked together to form a rotating chain, much like the bucket chain of a dredge. Could an escalator be built as an uninterrupted rotary chain with the steps facing upwards?
Invention
The RES-Escalator reveals a rotary chain comprising vertically aligned steps supported by sliding bearings and can be arranged in a circular ring. The steps roll on a guiding ring, which forms a platform at its lower and upper end for entering the escalator. The steps move up and down simultaneously.
